The bike was so lucky & to have the nerve to drop the bike as well.
I guess you just react but I wonder if I would have done that

I suppose until you're in a life or death situation you'd never know how you really would react. Let's hope we all keep safe out there and don't have to find out.

Chances are that he simply locked up the brakes and went done. A common bike accident, but, if that is the case, an incredibly lucky outcome. If he actually laid the bike down intentionally I take my hat off to him.

I am just interested in people's opinion of the HAs ability to handle a crisis.

We have a bridge here on the Auckland motorway that has been hit numerous times. A few years back a young student on a school outing on an open top double decker bus had his head knocked off while kneeling on his seat. Only a couple of months ago I witnessed a truck try to drive under it with his dump body part raised which ended up on the road and recently a digger hit it.

Video Here

Looks nasty - the motorcyclist was very lucky, very quick-witted, or both!

The digger doesn't look at all as though it's off-kilter on its trailer. I can't quite work out the mechanism of the accident from teh pictures. Unlike an incident near here a few years ago, when a driver of an enormous articulated dump truck drove along with his box up, and took out a whole load of the superstructure of a bridge over the entry to Hamilton harbour, at the western end of Lake Ontario. Turns out the driver was quite a long way from being sober, and the legal back and forth between his insurers and the highways agency are only the very beginning of his problems. It did make a bit of a mess...

Returned from Kings Hill today after a lovely stay with No2 Daughter, SIL and grand daughter.

If you can avoid the area do whilst they remove the final overhang, they have closed a section of the M20 and the area is an absolute log jam mad2 .

We will be returning next Friday for Goodwood Revival but this is in theory only a weekend closure waiting .
