No more V8's? My son in law and I have four V8 engined cars between us (doing our bit for global warming!) don't think an Aero would have nearly enough attraction for me with a straight 6, fabulous engine though it is.
It's the V8 burble that does it for me.......

Yes, I agree. You cannot replace that V8 burble. I remember back in my school days seeing a TV ad for the BMW 7 series entitled "the King is dead, long live the King". Maybe not this time.

Unless Morgan do something special it'll look like an over priced under featured rebodied Z4

Morgans by their very nature are quite different to everything else, they need the power plant to stand out in its utilisation not become some bland quiet euro compliant thing.

How is it standing out using a standard BMW V8? And God Forbid they do the TVR thing and try to make their own engine. Can you imagine what a disaster thats likely to be?

In reality they will have no choice. Dependant on major manufacturers for supplies, the engine have to be Euro compliant.

No chance.

The investment and compliance issues alone would break them, especially when aligned to the low volume the Aero models produce.

Searching for a different engine would be far more intelligent.

Anyone for a McLaren V8 shoehorned into the Aero frame !
Or perhaps the AMG 4L V8

Yummy.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Nobody even remotely suggested Morgan make their own engine??

The V8 BMW block is in semi Hooligan mode, in the BMW's it's just something hidden under the bonnet and nothing to shout about.

But if Morgan go for a quiet smooth motor that frankly is soulless, then why buy the car?

When you could have a cheaper car with the same engine that is more practical more reliable Roadster that doesn't have the troubles associated with Morgans.

Morgans unruliness its 180° to convention is what attracts, it's like a posh yobs car.

They don't have to go for some boring efficient inline 6

Maserati have gone to the trouble to produce a 250hp version of the Ghibli for Italy. I don't particularly like the turbo surge and often wonder why more do not use supercharging which would give a smoother delivery.

In any case a forced induction motor with a 250hp top end would accelerate like a scalded cat and have plenty of "real-world" performance. How often do owners really take their V8s to maximum power?

And as for the sound track you can always use SoundRacer

Jaguar have their AJ-V8 Gen III - although in an Aero 8 that might be a little too close for comfort to the F Type...
