Hello everybody! My name is Julien, I am from Belgium and as you may see, I am new on the forum. I bought an used S4 (almost new, a demonstrator with 2000 miles) 2 month ago in UK with quite a lot of issues which are getting slowly fixed. But even with that, what a wonderful car I have still a little question that may appear stupid: How to you add oil in the engine? The level of oil is coming dangerously to the "min" bar and I still have no ideas where to fill it up. If you can also confirm that it is the Castrol 5W-40 usually used in this engine? Thanks and Happy new year!

Likewise welcome to the forum!
I also have an S4 and was sure that the factory went over this with me when I collected my car. However in my poorly lit garage I struggled to find the dipstick tonight! Have to admit defeat and say that it's not obvious where the oil should be added. The manual does not show a diagram and is of no real assistance.
As regards oil the handbook mentions 0-30W, 0-40W, 5-30W and 5-40W fully synthetics as all being acceptable. Would imagine Castrol would be fine but know that the factory use Miller oils. Main problem is where it goes I guess!
Look forward to being enlightened by the experts on the forum as regards the oil filler!
Kind Regards,
Robert

Julien. Welcome to the forum and I'm sure 1560 and spudgun will look after you. Sorry to hear your having issues with your can and hope you get them resolved soon. Roberts spot on with the oil information and it isn't obvious where the oil goes. I just hope it doesn't need topping up to often. The filler cap is partly hidden under the right hand side wing (if your sitting in the car). The photo shows the wing vent. Good luck with topping it up and if anyone knows how please let us all know.

Thanks John that's much appreciated.
Looks like a sporting fill! Will have a look more closely when things have thawed out a bit up here. Await the correct technique with interest!!
Likewise Julien sorry to hear that you have some issues with the car and echo John in hoping that they are all resolved soon.
Kind Regards,
Robert

Looks like use of a large syringe and a bit of platic pipe is the answer to topping up with engine oil Seems sticking to trads was the right answer for me

My mechanic just takes out the whole nose section for filling up fluids. Looks harder than it is.
