Fixed! Pump ordered Tuesday, received late Thursday. Removal of the broken pump took longer than anything else. De-clamping the fuel lines is a royal pain. All of these items were originally installed before the car's skin was put on.
Tested and it immediately fired and stayed steady. Pump motor has a different sound than the previous.
This site and its contributors has saved my sorry butt again!
Thanks to all!
Michael, I ordered one of the non-OEM in-tank assemblies (this one actually,
BritCar Part) as I want to have a spare fuel pump in the car when I go touring later this month. But as you'll appreciate, the part is bulky and would take up too much space.
I want to remove just the pump element, together with its wiring connector and main output hose so that I carry just the vital bit. In your recent experience, would you say that this is a practical approach and if so, what other components from the complete assembly should I pilfer to carry along with me? Although I've not removed the (very tight) top hose clamp yet to remove the pump itself, right now it looks like this...
I propose that everything outside of those marked KEEP remain on the garage shelf. Would this work out do you think?
Thanks!
