What a fabulous event and we've still got 4 more stops. - Thanks Laurens & Rinke for all your efforts with the 2016 Junfrau Treffen, the reassurance of having the service crew and personally your assistance with Chris and in sourcing our indicator switch really meant we could simply enjoy ourselves. The runs were well organised and people shouldn't underestimate what's needed to keep a group of this size together which was achieved.

I'll add my thanks to Laurens & Rineke: yet another fantastic event!

It was also great to meet all of you I had the chance to chat with. (Sadly too few, as I was really only there for Saturday.)

I've added a few pics here: http://through-the-interface.typepad.com/through_the_interface/2016/09/the-2.html

(Yes, Comet, this is now my 4th post. So I may not be able to post until next year's event is finished to stay within quota. ;-)

Back home after 2,000 miles - under my own steam thanks to the tremendous support of the Abt and Avus Auto teams.

My car cut out and wouldn't restart so with some side of the road diagnosis showing sparks and fuel the suspicion fell on the cambelt. On investigation they found the cam timing had slipped which was due to the crankshaft sprocket bolt coming loose and wearing away the internal aluminium flat which aligns the timing.

There was a small bit left so they tried to loctite back in position but the timing was still off and it wouldn't start. At this point I was working out in my head when to call for the recovery services.

But Abt had another solution! A call to one of their staff who went into their office in Basel, picked up a new sprocket and drove 2 hours on a Fri night to deliver it. 20 mins later it's all fixed!

Less than 5 hours from breakdown to cured - an unbelievable achievement and one of the reasons that the Jungfrau-Treffen is such an amazing event.

Love the photo showing us all stood around it Chris - reminds me of the "how many men does it take" jokes.

We all added something to the fix - even if it was simply moral support. (for Ralph the mechanic) πŸ™„πŸ˜œ
