My 1962 4/4 has the 3-position toggle switch in the center of the dash for the turn signals. I'm constantly driving around signalling for the last turn I made and only realizing it when I'm about to make the next one. Annoying to others and dangerous for me.

A Lucas vacuum delay signal switch as used in some MGs and Jaguars would work with no wiring changes, and should fit where the toggle switch is now. Has anyone done this? And am I missing any possible installation problems?

Reproduction Lucas switches are available, but so far i haven't found a reproduction knob. Any ideas?

On my motor bike I installed a buzzer that also vibrated under the seat.
They are available from bike shops easy to fit.

If I can remember correctly, it was 40years ago, I changed my '59 4/4 to steering arm stalk. It was from a Mark 1 Cortina and then changed the wheel and boss to a wood rim Les Leston.
The early stalks were simple clamp on with tumble switches for cancelling. The wiring was standard green with white and red tracers.
The problem now is that the Blumells spoked wheel and toggle switch looks more in keeping with the car.
Go for the buzzer and vibrator. You will be turning all the time and leaving it on for the enjoyment.

The best solution I saw for this was a set of LED's, about 6 in a row as I remember, fitted inside one of the drivers side bonnet louvres right in the drivers vision area.
Simple and cheap as chips, alas my DHC does not have bonnet louvres

The buzzer and the LEDs are both great ideas that would never have crossed my mind. I agree, the stalk switch would not look right. I remember in the 1950s older cars in the US had a clamp-on stalk system added by the owner if the car had no turn signals from the factory. I'll bet the J.C. Whitney catalog still has them listed.

Tommorow I'll look for suitable LEDs.

Steve,
Try these people http://www.customdynamics.com I have had some excellent stuff from them, and your side of the pond, tell them what you require and they will make it for you.

Thanks for the link. Now to make some measurements and see if they can come up with what I need.
