What are you trying to achieve and with what kind of jack? I really don't recommend using the MMC jack, except in emergencies. If you do have to use it , I would be VERY careful to ensure it has a solid base and good contact with the chassis, preferably with some sort of well secured pad between the head of the jack and where you are jacking
A small trolley jack under the front cross frame tube is good for all front end work.
At the rear , I tend to use the trolley jack under the junction of the chassis and the rear cross member. This means swapping from side to side. You can jack in the middle of the rear cross member, but make sure you use a flat pad on the jack head to ensure it does not mark the crossmember.
If you want to jack up the entire car on a 2 post lift, then use the junction point of the bulkhead crossmember and the chassis at the front and an appropriate junction point at the rear.

See that they are Halfords Stands - they do a very good range - very economically.
Axle stands are a must if you are going to get anywhere near the car undersides.
Agree - I bought Halfords cheap set about 3 years ago for about £50 which included a creeper, 2 folding chocks, 2 stands and a jack
But
I quickly bought a larger Jack (the black one in the photo) as the one that came in the set didn't lift as high as the stands in their highest position
Also bought two more chocks as you really need a chock either side of each wheel

Jack in the middle of the front crossmember then put axle stands under at each side
Handbrake on and chocks under both back wheels on a level surface
I do this too and have marked the mid point of the crossmember with some tape to make it easier to keep the car level. I have a jacking beam for the rear, home made similar to DaveW version. Hardwood with angled steel edging for extra strength, again marked up with centre point. The car is currently front up on stands after replacing the steering rack gaitor, other cleaned up bits to go back on tomorrow.

I like the idea of the jacking beam for the rear, would you be able to post dimensions and a photo of it in use? It's such a nice stable way to lift evenly and spread the load on the car.
