hi all

Have developed a rather fetching crack in my screen on my 96 Plus 8 (laminated, no heated strips). Down in Budapest struggling to find a replacement... How do you all do it? Order a premade one or get one made?

Any help much appreciated... if you have someone local who makes I can have courier bring to Budapest for instance...

Thanks!

Alex

Good advice here on GoMog.

Also read that when fitting electrical tape around the edge helps.

Also don't forget that the longer side screw goes at the bottom!

I have had one made by a local vehicle glass supplier in the UK, it didn't take them long to cut it from standard flat laminated glass using my old screen as a template.

A quick bit of Googling shows Kabelacs Autoglass Non-stop in Budapest offer a 24-hour service, their number is +36 20 990 7161 I don't know if they could help?

Follow Tim's advice and find a local supplier who can cut flat laminated glass from a template.

When removing the cracked screen be VERY careful to make a note of where each screw comes from, and number them, or mount them on a cardboard template, or similar. They are unequal lengths and need to go back in EXACTLY the same places , or the new screen will crack again almost as soon as it is mounted in the frame.

Does your insurance not cover it? It would in the UK with a small excess.

Hi guys thanks for all advice. A chap that works for me (speaks Hungarian) has helped me out and found a glass shop that charges 90 quid for a hand cut piece of laminated. Will take screen over to them and job done.

Anyone wants some doing shout! smile
