I have the Suplex front mod on my plus4 for nearly 3 years and 35000 Kms. On Irish back roads it makes a huge difference - the car tracks where you point it rather than hopping across bumpy corners which on narrow roads with a car coming the other way is really comforting!!!! My wife noticed the difference within 15 mins on the back roads in East Sussex even though she hadn't known I was having the kit fitted. I am now going to have the 5 link rear kit fitted next month!!!
Just my 2 euro worth!!!! Yes , I would do the same !

Paul,
Go along to a HopMog meeting and talk to a few of the owners who have fitted it, and some without the mod. It does seem to be a Marmite (Vegemite) experience, some rave about it, others have disliked it so much they have removed it. Some dealers like it , others are perhaps more equivocal.
For me the modification and extra refinement (combination of comfort/ride and improved handling on less than perfect surfaces) justified the cost. There is a different feel at the front, you don't get the same bone-jarring feedback, the suspension just absorbs all bar the worst bumps, and so if you are addicted to driving over coins and detecting whether they are heads or tails , then perhaps it is not for you. If was still racing on perfect surfaces I certainly would not bother, however for long distance touring it is beneficial. It certainly suits my current Morgan needs.
However almost more important than the Suplex is to fit hard chrome king pins with grooved phosphor bronze bushes. This will allow the front suspension to move properly and remove quite a bit of "stiction" in the system. This, with an extra dose of Thissage.

Just my 2 euro worth!!!! Yes , I would do the same ! And I have done Now about 40,000 km on the front end. I do wonder if some of the people who did not like the results did not really have it setup correctly. Very important to understand and follow the instructions. If I wanted sharper handling at the expense of a little comfort I would fit the slightly harder spring that is the lowest rate spring out of the race-kit and the Quantum adjustable dampers.

I would be very interested in your views Robbie once the 5L is fitted. Are you having it fitted by Williams or going diy?

Andy, Williams- they did the front and I am really happy, so, while I will try and avoid the spaniels, it was an easy decision to return to them!!
Cheers!

Thank you everyone for your opinions and advice. The verdict suggests I find that £1000 and pop along to BHM! As Andy suggested I might also chat to some Hopmoggers. Paul

Paul It is hard to argue with Andy G. He has way too much experience in a variety of Morgans on everything from a racetrack to a long tour to Scotland. So I will try again. Actually I tested My +8 Bitsa with a new (to me) 3.9 engine. I also re adjusted the "ride height" by moving the steering rods from the bottom of the stub axle arm to the top by using "Heim Joints". The test was using the Mulberry Kit and driving around Mt. Rainer. A long day trip on roads that are a bit primitive. I am lucky, I have a baseline. That is a '63 +4-4str with Koni's on all 4 corners, Rutherford Modifications on the rear and Original springs in front. This is the best handling, riding Morgan I own. So far with the +8 Bitsa I am not even close. Next week end is "Flog Mog" in Northern California. It is a 16 hour run to "Garberville" in the Redwood Forest where We will be driving back roads for 3 days. The first 8 hours is on the Interstate Hiway to a place, just North of the California border called "Cave Junction". Then next 8 hours will be thru the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Paved roads but that is about all. I have installed the Suplex Kit and un-installed it so many times I can do it in My sleep. The only hard part is adjusting the ride height and I have made that a bit simpler by cleaning the threads very well for the adjuster. I will have my "Hero3" movie camera mounted so You can get a sense of the roads I am driving.

The latest spec suspension from the factory is very well resolved. I don't know what's changed but it's not hard and is compliant. I'm impressed with it.

About all I know about it is the Caster has been increased from 4 to 6 degrees and a thrust bearing and no damper blades. No idea of what mainspring they are using.
