How on earth does Ben manage on a narrow boat. Does he take his head off, and leave it at the entrance/cabin/door?

I always so surprise that he and his Dad can drive Morgans because of the leg room.

I had standard factor ones on my old 4/4.
My current +4 has round ones & to be honest they look better but there is no real difference in the rear view.



PS a steady -5 here in the Chilterns. I went cross country skiing yesterday & I guess will do so again today before Mr Brown decides to tax it!

I swapped my rectangulars for rounds after the first week! Got the from Heart of England Morgans. The adjustment is far better then the recs.

For me the issue was vision rather than looks - though the factory "rectangular" do look more like 1970's Austin Allegro, not exactly in keeping - and I had noticed the rusty central screw.

The most striking problem was that the rear vision on the passenger side was very restricted because of the flat glass and small area, though the driver's side view was tolerable because you sit so close to it. As far as I could find there are no convex replacements for the standard mirrors, the only convex ones being round.

I bought the Librands round mirrors to fit the standard bases, with convex lenses. They were a bit of a pain to fit as the stem is 10mm instead of 9.5mm on the original, which required cutting a slot in the plastic bushing to allow it to fit. But the rearwards visibility was much improved and far more tolerant of a mirror not being perfectly aligned. I am confident I can see behind me on the nearside now, particularly when completing an overtaking manouevre or on the motorway.

I would not willingly change back, and they do look good. I haven't driven a car with the factory round mirrors - for me it would depend on whether they are available with convex glass rather than on how they look. I would not have flat mirrors.

Re the narrow boat. I asked him much the same question and the answer I got was'carefully'.

In fact, he has two boats. One is a modern steel -hulled job and the other is a traditional wooden working boat which he acquired last year and is renovating. It has this tremendous single cyliner engine ( a Russell Newberry, I think:

So far as the leg room is concerned, I can only say that one of the most amazing things I've ever seen was when Mike demonstrated to me the way to get out of a Mog with the hood up ( I speak as a mere 6'3", 15 stoner!) he just made it look so easy.

I fitted the ones from Morgan Belgium but with flat mirror. Very nice but with limited rearvision on passenger side.

Stunning car. I saw the mirrors they look very nice and are a lot better than the original rectangular.
What I loved on mine is that there is no plastic at all (I am a plastic hunter ).
