Can anyone recall details of the Daimler V8 engined +4 that used to be raced in the 60s or maybe early seventies? I seem to remember a magazine article, maybe CCC (?)that had something about it years ago. Thanks

That would be XRX 1, a Plus 4 that, as you say, competed in the 60s with a Daimler engine. Now restored and competing in historic events, but with a TR engine sadly. To get FIA papers I believe they had to revert to the original engine, despite showing evidence that it had raced in period with the Daimler engine. If the mods will excuse a link to another board, there's a thread here here discussing missing Plus 4s

Do you know who drove the car whilst it was V8 engined, and who fitted the engine?. It would be interesting to trace the race results.

It was a well-know name in 60s racing, but one which escapes me for the moment. I am applying liberal amounts of alcohol to free up the relevant bits of grey matter...

Thanks for this Jim. I couldn't see anything in the link about the Daimler engine though. Have I missed something?

I happen to have "some" info about this car, too much to divulge here. If there's anything specific you want to know, write me on plus4plus@live.nl
