Hi Peter, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will change ready for my cars return home I have been in touch with Melvyn Rutter re sump protection plate. His guys in the workshop have made some to their own design and will make them to order. I will be talking to the workshop on Tuesday and will probably order one to be fitted when my car returnes. Time for a refresher!
I've read through this thread, so far there are no really negative comments, no "wish I'd bought an F Type or Boxter" comments.
Is there anything about the new Plus 8 that owners don't like???
I have to say it is hard to think of anything sensible...

No boot - so you have to use the roof rails.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It's lousy at off roading.

It's lousy at off roading. Indeed...but don't let MMC know or they may plan a SUV version, as Bentley has done.....

The Aero tub migh lend its self to something like that, new suspension of course, but the revised front end might make it possible and the back is effectively a cartridge that could be changed. I suspect development costs might be almost reasonable. But I worry at what it might look like....

OK, so just taken the plunge and bought a two year old Aero based Plus 8 to keep my 1992 4/4 company. 1000 miles in 8 days no glitches. First impressions - what a car, silly grin firmly on face - and even better the other half is happy to drive it, the main issue may be keeping her out of the driving seat.……
As fellow Plus 8 owners any top tips to prevent future reliability problems? I have read most of the ones on the forum.
My initial input is for those suffering slow fuel filling problems. If you have a Plus 8 with the side screen slot behind the seats, if you remove the rear panel covering the spare wheel hole you will probabably find that the breather pipe runs from the tank to the filler with a pronounced dip. Remove the dip (tie wrap to the cross member above the pipe - with suitable protection to prevent fretting) and this seems to help. Obviously using the well publicised 12 o'clock flap hinge position also helps. You could also reduce the length of the breather pipe to reduce the dip but access with the side screen slot fitted is very restricted.
Regards
