Now I have retired I can finally get to do all those tasks I never had time to do. Priority number one is the garage. It's only a small garage (5m x 2.5m) designed for 1950s cars and the Morgan fits in nicely. It is' however in a real state, particularly the floor, which also has a cast iron roller door track embedded in the concrete and which I think will have to be dug out. I thought this subject must have come up on here before but couldn'tt find it. So has anybody any experience with the different products available and what can you recommnend? Thanks in anticipation.

Looking at the rail, it seems to have been fixed in place separately to the existing floor judging by the two to three inches of cement either side. You may be able to chisel down at one end of the rail to see how deep that 'new' concrete is, and the rail may be fixed in with large screws onto the original flooring channel.
I'd try this first, I think. All you'd lose is a days effort, but multiply that effort along the whole length for the big picture..!
John's right, though. It's easier to screed a new surface without disturbing anything & raise the floor by a few centimetres to give a smooth new base. You have ample clearance below the side door step by the looks of it & the DPC is two courses high I think. You just ramp the entrance slightly to ease driving in and out.
A pre-mix concrete pour with fibres mixed in is ample strength at depth of about 25mm for that.
You could hire a Kango from a hire company. That would dig out the door rail. Also make digging up the whole floor an easier job if you decide to go that route. For not a lot of £££ you get a good tool to make the job easier. A heavy hammer and chisel/bolster is the masochists method! You might as well make sure the floor is good and smooth while you are at it. So much nicer when you are under the car. I take it you will be replacing the door? Chimes with my first approach which was to hire a Kango and have an exploratory dig. I want to avoid raising the floor too much as there's already a 3/4" step up into the garage from the drive. I was also thinking of something like Ecotile as a floor surface. Don't know if anyone's got experience of this sort of product? I'll keep a photo log of the project for future reference. Cheers.
