Hi, TM Members!

this statement will appear in The Chairman's column in Miscellany next week.

Sadly, Peter Jenks, our current Vice Chairman has informed me that due to increased work commitments and health issues he is no longer able to fulfil the role and will not be standing for election next year as Chairman.

Peter says ”Given the demands of my job and the limitations caused by my health there is no way I can take up the role of Chair. I've not been functioning properly as VC since Easter and also haven't had time to properly check mail. There are simply not enough hours in the day. So I will not stand in April and would like to stand down as VC as soon as possible. For me to do otherwise would end up damaging the club.”

Peter hasn’t taken the decision lightly but we have discussed the future and feel it is best for Peter’s health for him not to continue. I thank Peter for his help and support over the past 18 months and hope he continues to enjoy the club and ‘Tarka’ (his +8).

The workload is real...as are my health problems, although they are manageable. I need time for physiotherapy and rest after long trips.
Since the beginning of this year I've been away from home for 53 nights and out of my office for 83 days. Unusually The pace hasn't slowed for the summer...so since 1 August I've been in the office for 11 out of 23 possible working days and spent 20 nights away from home, including a couple of Sunday nights.
I had a meeting with my Group Leader on Tuesday last whilst at head office and have been asked to give a commitment not to retire before before 31 March 2018, when I'm 66. After some discussion about "what is in it for me" I have agreed.

So, something had to give and it was MSCC.

Thanks to all for your support and encouragement over the last couple of years. I'm not leaving the Morgan community and will still be part this place.

A wise decision and I only hope that working until 66 proves to be also.

It is nothing to be worried about: I have Bronchiectasis, a chronic condition that has been slowly developing. It is now under control but I'm left somewhat less able to work at the level I used to do.

I had to chose between working 3 days a week and a good salary or retiring and continuing to help manage MSCC.

From a newcomer to TM and one who also has a degenerative condition. I understand and wish you well . I have enjoyed the support from T M and have met some extrely nice like minded individuals through TM in which under your stewardship TM has obviously flourished. Well done and Thank you . HT 11
