Sean -- very sorry to hear of your misfortune- and injuries. Also sorry to see the lovely car which I saw in Wexford reduced to the write-off on the auction site.. hopefully you will have a full recovery and will get another MOG in time

thanks all. the main issue is the lack of airbags, and crumple zones in the trad chassis. the car I hit was stationary, the driver who was in it didn't even suffer whiplash the impact speed was not that high, couldn't have been more than 40mph my body took much of the force of the impact .. I am almost certain that the reason the passenger compartment was 'intact' (it was not) was because the engine and drivetrain was pushed up diagonally (to the passenger side) out of the way, resulting in massive and severe bruising along the outside of my left thigh. the shattered windscreen was caused by the bonnet wings flying off. I thought long and hard about a replacement ARP4 .. but decided once bitten, twice shy I have replaced the Morgan with a 15 month old Mercedes SL400 I considered seriously the Aero 8 but the steering wheel, even with airbag, is too close to the body for my liking. Looking at the Aero 8 aluminium chassis, I was not convinced that it offered the level of crash protection that I want. My 3 month adventure with Morgan is over for some time, if not forever, unfortunately. this pic show another perspective of the damage

Wow..!
That side on shot speaks volumes. And yes, you're quite correct to hold fire on the pre-impact actions on a public forum.
Glad you're still here..seriously.
It's a very frightening and life changing thing that you escaped from, and only time will tell whether you're willing to accept the compromises driving a modern pre-war tech car brings.
In a way, I'm glad of photo's like this. It really sobers those who still believe that some basic electronic & safety technology is superfluous..

Very sorry and shocked to see your story. Such a shame and you've obviously been through a tough time but glad to see you coming out the other side. I was hit by a 44 tonne lorry in my Freelander 2 two years last July and I'm still dealing with the insurance nonsense. It took 18 months to get my shoulder sorted so it was very minor compared to your injuries with the car still being driveable after the accident but had I been in the Mog when it happened I guess, like you, as much as I have Morgans in my DNA I might have considered everything very differently.

Looking at the ebay listing, I cant help but wonder why this is a Cat D writeoff? Its surely Cat C or Cat B (spares only)
Cat D is for minor damage which is uneconomic to repair!

It took 18 months to get my shoulder sorted I have been really surprised and disappointed at how long it takes to recover. I hope your shoulder is now fully recovered, 18 months is such a long time.

as some of you may have guessed, this is my car.
I will tell the story in full once legal proceedings are settled, but suffice it to say, my injuries were not minor
I was off work for 3.5 months, and suffered multiple fractures and bruises. I am still not fully recovered, but will be so in due course
the car was written off by the insurers
Jeez Sean! I really hope you get back to full health soon now after that. Cars can be replaced. People can't. PS - enjoy the Merc
