My Dad told me today that the factory will not build anymore 4 seaters, the initial plan to halt production for a year to redevelop it has been scrapped.. It's in this months Mog Mag, evidently the last 4 seaters have to start production this month so lots in build at the minute..

It's a shame they have simply abandoned the 4seater. Could they not have simply redesigned to not have rear seats to give bigger storage? That would remove the need to include rear passenger safety changes.
Didn't they publish some fanciful design concepts in Mogmag earlier this year? Vans, shootingbrake etc?
I wonder if the SP group would build such a car ?
I seem to remember some owners describing their own mods along those lines.

I wonder if the recent upsurge in demand for the 4 seater due to the announcement might change MMC's minds and focus some attention on putting in the necessary Measures to make it compliant
If one of the measures is rear airbags then I think it's definitely a gonner but then I don't know exactly what the regulations are for 4 seater cars
I remember a few years ago Heinz announced that they were ceasing to make their salad cream and demand soared !

Anybody give me an estimate on how much my 4 seater just went up? Maybe I can export it back to the UK With the £ against the AUS $ you would get 30% plus any increase in value. Ship it to Singapore and drive it back?

Guess I'm unlikely to ever get one now.
On yesterday's factory tour there were a lot of 4 seaters in build.
According to the tour guide, if they aren't registered before Nov 1st, they won't ever get registered here in the UK.
Sad to see the demise of another "classic"...

Sad to see the demise of another "classic"... Is it possible to create a new model from the 4 seater base? I have commented about using the base to build a 2seat shooting brake or simple covered rear area ( soft or hard "boot lid" style. If some owners can do it why not MMC? A trad with a boot! OK..limited numbers are likely to be asked for but...an attractive variant. If the reason to discontinue is rear passenger safety related then remove that reason.
