Reading Practical Classics today and was susprised to find that they are questioning whether 4/4 prices are overheated. Apparently there was a 10% fall last month. Not sure where they get their facts from, but my impression was that the market was quite buoyant.

Magazine valuations always need a pinch of salt. Condition condition condition.........

That's interesting as I definitely have noticed older 4/4 's being offered for sale at lower prices than a few years ago

Four years ago when I first started looking seriously at buying a Morgan, you couldn't find anything post 70's in just about any condition for less that £15K

Just recently I've seen old running 4/4's MOT 'd for as little as 10K

It seems there are some over priced cars for sale from non Morgan dealers.. I would prices are quite static over the last 3 years or so.. About £13 to £15k entry level for a sound car. Yes you can spot them at £10k but I bet they don't last long unless they need a rebuild.

All I can say is I couldn't get one as good as mine at the price I paid 3yrs ago. So prices have gone up !

New ones are at least 7% more expensive this year so it must feed down to the values of older ones. with the pound dropping i expect we'll see another rise in prices next year as well. Time will tell.

The new car adverts now appearing on Autotrader are showing RRP's
lower than before the price rise! have I missed something?

Can we get the article into perspective...the article refers to Series 3-5 4/4's which it refers to as the least popular Morgans, perhaps unfairly,perhaps not.

Not sure how they come by their data, other than a review of recent auction results which could mean anything!

At that level of price, I reckon that pretty much any short-door car (ie before the galvanised chassis and stainless bulkhead/valances) is going to need a fair amount of work if it hasn't already been done.

If it's done a decent mileage then the bodywork will need looking at, and if it hasn't, then the mechanicals are likely to need a going-over.

I suppose it's possible that a car can have been owned for 20 years or so, been looked after by an assiduously careful owner, maintained in tip-top condition, and then put on the market at a rock-bottom price, but I can't see it as being very likely!

I am looking for my first Morgan and it has to be a 4/4 Sport from 2008 or younger. The prices for "as new condition" cars are in my opinion extremely high at this moment. I have 3/4 year old Classic (UK) Magazines where the prices for 2010/2011 cars where lower than right now.
The pound dropping is possitive in my case cause i am living on the other site of the Northsea in The Netherlands. To import a LHD version from another EU country is no option for me because the price with all the luxery taxes over here is to high for me and less then €7.000,- from the new price 7 years ago.
