Thanks Chris99, seems like you had the same experience as me. Have looked this evening - both cables seem secure. Only thing I can see is that the loop in cable seems to sit on the top of or very close to the transmission housing -will try to cable tie them away. In the event that this fails - does it still work if I just disconnect the switch (maybe bridging the two cables together if a complete circuit is needed).

Thanks again Andrew
Disconnecting the switch won't work but bridging the cables will. Or as I did just use a cable tie and a nut or washer to keep the rubber button pressed in.
The switch disconects the power to the fuel pump in the event of a crash so although it is risk to run with the switch disabled it's a pretty small one. On the other hand the car cutting out at random moments is quite unnerving so if mine starts going again then it's a permanant cable tie solution for me!
The car cutting out due to the inadvertent operation of the inertia switch, is likely to create the environment for someone to career into the back of you thereby operating the inertia switch which has already operated 🤔💤💤💤💤💤💤💤

Particularly if you're unfortunate enough to be on one of Britains new 'Smart Motorways', without a hard shoulder. Whomever thought those were a good idea has clearly not had a sudden BB seizure......
Coincidentally, a mate in a Lotus 340R hit an angry expansion joint on a Belgian autoroute last weekend whilst we were coming back from our 53rd Ardennes Hoonabout (trip report coming in due course....) and popped his Inertia Switch too. Fortunately that Belgium don't seem to have had the Smart idea as yet, so no harm done. But Monday morning traffic was dreadful and the car sure slowed down pretty quickly.
