Have you tried the Iridium tip plugs Tim?

A pear for £51? Can't be a pair of batteries or Morgan mechanics for that money wink

It could well be to do with the adaptive maps within the ECU software. These continually adjust the fuel mixture and it may have gone right to the border of its parameters to compensate for the cold start. These sometimes need some time to think before a happy medium is achieved again...

Especially with catalytic converters, the engine dumps extra raw fuel to bring the converter up to temp. While it's doing that, engines can run more roughly or stall.

Long idle's will also dump extra moisture into the engine.

For cold starts, just let it idle long enough to smooth out a little (usually 30-120 seconds), then start off at modest rpm's until the oil warms up.
