Whilst the Cosworth engine in my ARP4 is suitably tractable it is not torquey, nor does it feel like 220bhp, which is a little disappointing, and I am looking at ways to remedy this. 'Softer' cams are one way to go, and sacrifice some top end power for mid range torque, or maybe put in a whole new engine, and the 3.7 Roadster unit would be the natural choice as it is a proven fit in the chassis, but does anyone have any suggestions where I might buy an engine and gearbox for a reasonable amount of money, which might rule out MMC, though of course, I would have the conversation with them if I decide it might be a way forward?

Well its the Ford Mustang engine - so maybe one of the UK Mustang dealers could help?

Or a Mustang UK specialist??

Powertorque is where Morgan buy the engines from
I believe the chassis is different for the 3.7, specifically the tunnel is wider to accommodate the gearbox

You'll also need a better radiator, different fuel pump etc

There is one on ebay - seems just the ideal job!

Leacy Classics 0121 796 2537

Low mileage - complete with Getrag gearbox - bidding is up to £114!!

could be a bargain

Its being shown on a pallet - ready for collection! laugh2

In the Pacific NW. The Mustang 3.7 is very popular. So the "Breakers" (We call them Wrecking Yards) have these engines/trans for sale. Price depends on mileage of the engine. I have thought about a 3.7 but the V8 I presently have, other than MPG, seems the best for Me.

I think I would be happier with a 3.0 rather than a 3.7.

3.0 of first series Roadster complete with the original Getrag Box could be a nice alternative. Also the tunnel was narrower than that of the 3.7 Mustang engine.

I would agree but then I am biased. Maybe drive both to see.
Happy to give you a go if you let me test the ARP4

This is pretty well what Peter- mr11mog - did when he took his ARP4 back and had a 3.7 !

Could it happen that an engine swap comes more expensive than to sell the ARP4 and let you built a good looking ARR6 as mr11mog did? After all you can sell a genuine unmodified car and you would get another new unmodified one. Both cars would keep better value than a "former" ARP4 with such a massive change when you should sell her sometime in the future.
