here is the power and torque curve of the 2 litre engine

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpyi1zji1c7iie7/cosworth_yd_information_handbook_1_0_%28web%29.pdf2.pdf?dl=0

It is more than my 4/4 sport and the car wheight is approximately the same .For me it is enough and the taxes are very much lower than a 3.9litres.When you go up to 5000 rnd/min it is a missile.

I'm relieved that the ARP4 looks as it does, because had it looked standard I would probably have pushed the boat out for one and been in that same boat as Peter.

When I had a run in an ARP4 it struck me that you needed to keep the revs up. A very track focussed/fast road car IMO - a tad like a fast Caterham

I like the idea of this model - but not the experience.

I do think MR11MOG has got it spot on!

A Roadster - but with the Sports look of an APR4 laugh2

The previous owner is on the forum and made his views clear as to why he swapped for a Roadster at the time.

I shall leave it to him to elucidate should he chose to.

always the same storys about the ARP4, but i have one and on this moment we have done 8892 km and it go s just like it was advertised. 2 liter,225 hp, Cosworth. 100% fun. But it's like motorcycles. An Harley is fun, but some like ( still ) fast sportbikes. We have also an very good +8 but most of the time i take the AR. Just like it evil love evil

I'm with you, Stefan, I love the ARP4, I have no problem with high-revving, high powered engines, there's no such thing as a lack of torque, it's just failure to select the appropriate gear...

Don't all 4cyl cars need revving to get up to speed , I enjoyed changing gear in my plus 4 with TB's and overtaking , a fantastic car which I miss greatly , no revving on the plus 8 or I'd be in the ditch !

I've never driven one but I know I'd like it, I love keeping the revs high, the only thing I miss in my Morgan is having the throttle pedal within reach of the brake pedal. i've yet to find a way to blip the throttle while braking for a downshift, esential when driving with the revs high, I suppose all traditional Morgans have the same pedal layout.

Or my S1 Roadster at £500!

It's to do with the year it was registered and the change in the way VED is calculated.
I think cars before 2001 are calculated on engine size and after on emissions.
