Great photo Ken and car looking very smart. I remember driving that route in a hire car with my partner Val back in 2005, after we brought my boat up to the Chesapeakes to wait out the hurricane season.

Ahhhh ... me beloved Chesapeake! I'm USCG certified as a captain up to 25 tons. Always kept a blow boat on the Chesapeake throughout the end of the last century.

Yes we had a great time there but not without incident. Took a direct lightning hit whilst in marina in Urbanna. Took out the towns electricity supply and $20,000 of electronics on the boat!

Been commuting to work this week making the most of my car before the winter weather really sets in. Had the usual love your wheels mate in the traffic but still haven't sussed the quick get away from the traffic lights
Is it just me or does any spirited acceleration end up with smoke and wheelspin and no forward momentum!!!

So sorry, it is just you!

Do not despair, however. It took me about two thousand miles to really get the hang of this car and what I could do with it. I openly admit that I am an aggressive driver and I like to punch it when the situation is calling for some hoonish behavior.

That being said, I had to change out my tires at 3,000 miles as the car will drift and that eats the Avons up front and you can scratch in the first three gears, which will eat the rear, without trying at times.

View these initial tires as training wheels...

After replacing said tires I had learned the evil of my ways and they have lasted longer. Swap out the Avons for Blockleys will be a great improvement. Swapping out the Blockleys for the Coker Excelsior line will further add longevity.

Any good symmetrical rear car tire will do IMHO.

I am on my fifth set of fronts and my third rear in over 31,000 miles. As I said, I like to play...

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

First time I have heard of Shinko. I see they make a wide range of tires. Which model are you using?

Lunchtime trip to Dereham to scrub in new tyres, with coffee/sandwich stop.
