Hi
I need to replace my front brake disc`s, can any one recommend a supplier.Can I improve on the original ones.
The car is ok at normal speeds but shudders when braking at 80mph +

Mine did that, I had the discs skimmed, a lot cheaper than replacements!!
(or don't drive over 70 mph.....lol....)

I need some too but will try skimming on the car first. A local company reckon they have 100% success. Melvyn Rutter has a skimming machine. Factory replacements are around £625 from memory but Mulfab had one set left of theirs a few months ago. Let us know how you get on !

Lifes motors did mine (southport) bit of drive for you though, I'm sure if you ask your local dealer he may know someone, (they usually take the discs off and send them to an engineers) unless they have the equipment, I'm sure one of the Morgan dealers down south somewhere has the facilities, I seem to remember seeing something in a miscellany mag a while ago, sorry I can't be much more help.

Can the discs on center lock hubs be skimmed on the car? I have just watched a video showing "Procut" skimming and they bolt on the cutting machine, i also have the judder when braking hard.

Do you know any local company that machines the disc's Hi Bill, Try Hargreaves enginering in Johnstown Carmathen. But you will have to take the discs in to them.

I believe the judder can be caused by cleaning the car!!! apparently when you have washed the car it is best to run round the block and heat up the brakes, this dries the water out from the discs and pads and stops rust forming behind the pads where they touch the disc. (this then leaves pitting on the disc which causes the judder when braking)
