I am trying to loosen the grubscrew under headlamp which holds the unit in place - but its rock solid. Have tried penetrating fluid etc but no joy. Quite concerned it will get rounded by the allen key if I give it more force. Any ideas?

No idea mate sorry ! It's not by any chance a left hand thread for some reason? It is a Morgan after all! Otherwise it look like a bit of heat, soldering iron or small blowtorch maybe? Best of luck!

If the Allen head becomes damaged, try pinching outer part of head with mole grips and turning anti-clockwise. I think it sits slightly proud of rim so this may be possible - budget for new screw and grease before fitting. I make a habit of this with all removed screws initially.
It's an advantage to use a socket set Allen key of correct (metric) size. Typically better quality and a tighter fit, allowing more twisting force without damaging head. Might be worth trying such first.

Thanks guys , still plugging away with this. It failed its MOT on headlamp alignment, so need to get it undone.
Might be worth most cars freeing them up and greasing just in case you need to adjust in the future.
As a satisfied customer I can recommend Spanns Garage in Whitegate for those in the Cheshire area as a Morgan three wheeler experienced garage and MOT station. They also change tyres , front and back if required.

No idea mate sorry ! It's not by any chance a left hand thread for some reason? No, normal right hand thread. Mine were very solid but the correct size allen key with a bit of pipe over the end to increase the leverage and they came out OK.

Can you get an impact driver onto it? The Bosch GDR 10.8V is very good and wieldy. Make sure you have good quality hex bits which fit the capscrew properly

Yea then use Coppaslip or Aluslip as appropriate! Of all the selection of bits that I have nothing seems to fit the M3W Allen screws properly.

Mine needed a 3mm allen key. They seem to have loctite on them, one came out fine the other the flats were a bit damaged and the first 3mm allen key I tried just turned in the screw I tried another 3mm key and it came out OK, put back in with copper slip.
