Awry
You're correct, the Aero chassis is bonded. However it also uses rivets for braces!

Providing the process was controlled and that’s mainly down to degreasing and cleanliness there would be no issue with PB and steel. No need for secondary measures. If you were specifying it in a critical application one would normally specify a proof load to be applied after curing.
Cool. So all I need to do is take a set of stock pb bushes, chuck them up and take a couple of thou of the outer diameter, and bond them into the stub axle tubes using the kingpin to ensure alignment? Sounds much easier than faffing about with a reamer. It's almost a shame I've got HC kingpins and only around 35k miles on them. It's going to be a while before they need doing.

"Loctite 609 will allow you to disassemble at a future date, but even stronger types are available if you don’t trust this medium strength product!" Win is a retired insurance executive. I am sure this information came from the Machine Shop (friend) that did the job. This is Bearing Retainer Loctite.

I think there may be quite a few grades that could be contenders, certainly the ones mentioned. If the tubes haven’t been machined the bores may well be out of round so gap filling capability would be a consideration. Plan A for me is to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use 648 with my Hilubes.

Loctite 648 looks good for Vesconite Hi-Lube other than "Rapid Cure". Certainly would want enough time to to get the bush in position and aligned and also grease seals in place. So I would look at "Rapid Cure" Directions carefully.
Not sure but I think Tim H. will use bronze and therefore I would use 680 unless somebody with more information and actual use on Loctite gave other advice.

Plan A for me is to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use 648 with my Hilubes. Yes, boring the stub-axle tubes straight would be a sensible move. Not something I could do on my little Myford, but I have made friends with a couple of guys who run a small engineering shop specialising in one-offs/short runs for the aviation industry, and I'm sure I could persuade them to do it for me. The whole Vesconite thing has got me conflicted a bit, to be honest. It's a great material no doubt, and for many the fact that it does not require lubrication would be extremely attractive, but for me personally it's actually a disadvantage in a way. One of the main reasons I love my Morgan so much is that it demands a level of owner involvement much greater than a tin-top. The bi-monthly ritual of getting under the car, greasing the kingpins, checking the suspension and brakes, tightening up any fasteners, and generally fossicking about with the thing is a complete joy for me.

Are adhesives foolproof, would hate to have a fail at high speed on a public road? Aren't all Morgans held together largely by this stuff ?
