Ken, with the radiator cap off and filled, squeeze the top hose and see if air bubbles out. Fit the cap. Release the squeeze. That should remove a small amount of air in that area.
It's a shame there isn't a bleed valve in the top hose to allow air out. Years ago my Renault 18 had one and it made air purging much easier.

I used to bleed my V8 very carefully through the top heater hose with the engine running. It was the only way to get the air out of the heater box.

Just having my coolant changed tomorrow on a 2012 plus 4, so noted those points. Another point, is to keep the heater valve fully open to clear matrix and also allow refilling without too many airlocks subsequently.

Good advice and it was ok rad is full and heater vented. Thanks for all advice here. As usual the best reference book for Mogs. Thanks folks.
