Steve,

Do you have any photos of Build #84012? If you do, can you please either post them or send them to me directly? I am not looking to use any photos of my build for any legal action or anything negative against my dealer, I simply would love to know if my car has started production, and to get a sense of where in the production process it might be.

As others have mentioned, dealers seem to have difficulty getting updates from the factory regarding their customer''s build status. They rely on emails and phone calls between themselves and the factory, and history has shown that their communication is rather infrequent and not always effective. First hand knowledge of an in-person visit is always best.

If you can share your photos from your recent visit, I am certain many of us waiting would be appreciative and would have no intention of using them against their dealers. It's also fun in general to see photos of these wonderful cars being built.

Thanks!

-Tom

Steve- You don't even need to send me any photos. I would take your word for it IF you had seen my car (Build 84024) in production! (-:

It seems like Steve is relishing in the fact that he might have information about our builds that some of us (including me) would like to have.

For whatever reason, he believes so strongly in the "confidentiality" of his photos.....I'm still unsure who he is "protecting".

He has had the chance to tell us whether or not he has seen our builds in progress, and he could have easily described the state of the build if posting photos goes against his own code of ethics.

Whatever....Steve, if you want to provide some information about what you did and didn't see during your visit, it would be appreciated. If not, then let's just move on, and I hope someone other than Steve would be a gent (like Glenn) and provide us with some feedback and photos after their factory tour.

For the record, the request for info and photos of a recent factory tour to find out if my car is in production was the impetus of the original post.

Just saying....

Just sayin..

Polar993 - I did send you a private message yesterday about your car. I have no idea why you haven't read it.

Fast Ken - 84015 was the next out of the door. If I had seen yours I would tell you.

The amount of vitriol and angst just proves the point I made about going behind official lines, and this subject is now closed from my perspective.

Steve, I missed your PM, and didn't see it until just now. Thank you.

For everyone else on this thread, Steve did provide me with some general information about his observations around the factory. Nothing specific about my build or 84024, but he did mention that there were a number of M3Ws in progress, with the most complete of the group being 84015. That group of builds had not yet had bodies mated to the frames.

Thanks Steve....I appreciate the update.

Good to hear 84015 is getting there as I am right behind!

As for the bonnet belts, I have my dealer install coachmen foot loops and a functional bonnet belt as I did not like the factory one since it does not secure the bonnet at all. I had this arrangement on my first M3W and loved it. The leather is felt backed but eventually you can get grit under there and with vibration have some issues. If you keep it clean, this is minimal. Just my preference as I like how they look and with the old fasteners it was good to have extra security. I am interested to try out the new vintage bonnet catches.

Steve- Thanks for the update. And John thanks for the bonnet belt tip.

Anyone else planning a visit to the Factory?

If you're worried about it why not just give them a quick ring and ask them if they mind you passing on the photos?

I received an update from my Dealer today for my Build #84024. The Factory issued a Certificate of Origin including the Chassis/VIN # SA9M…and Engine #T5600077. I don't understand the engine numbers sequence and why it would be so low but I am very happy to know that I have an engine and hopefully a chassis sitting on the Factory floor!!!

If anyone catches sight of it at the Factory please let me know!
