Hello,
I am going to be ordering my flying jacket soon - I've had the Morgan for over a month now so I think it's really about time don't you? I've pretty much settled on the classic Irvin RAF Sheepskin Flying Jacket from Aviation Leathercraft / Moto-Lita - they are "the original" and seem a good price compared to what some people charge. I did fancy a B-3 for a while from a company in Germany but I read some damning reviews and couldn't find a B-3 in the same colour-scheme anywhere else.
Anywho... the reason for this post is to ask if anyone has purchased a child-size flying jacket or has seen them advertised and can point me in the right direction. My 7 year old daugher also likes the car and would like the right coat to go with it. I've seen some lightweight faux fur replicas but I'd want to get "the real thing" for her.
Cheers

Hi Neil, I received one light IRVIN flying jacket/Moto-lita just before Christmas and I'm very happy about the quality. Also in Italy we are having an hard winter with temperatures some days in the morning -9/-10°C. This jacket is very warm and practical to wear and overall light. About the size in the site of MOTO-LITA you can put yours sizes and the jacket will be perfect for your body. ciao fabrizio

Another vote for the Irvin jacket. I do not know if they offer childrens sizes but I bought mine from http://www.flying-jacket.com/ and it has to be worth a call to them to ask.

Aviation Leathercraft has replied to an email saying that they do not produce child sizes because they know that kids grow so quick and so don't want to rob us of our money! Which is nice of them.
I've have a look at Proviation but the Irvin people also suggested Barbour jackets instead.

Hi Neil, just to offer my tuppenceworth, I bought one of these original Irvin Flying jackets about 6 years ago, its a great jacket, nice quality. The only thing I would do if I was buying one now is to go for the less heavy sheepskin option as I find the full monty version a bit too restricting and bulky and due to the quality, they takes ages to wear in. Regards Steve

Hi Neil,The best jacket you can buy anywhere in the world is an Eastman!(a tad short and no pockets)The Irvn lightweight is perfect for driving,no zips on the sleeves, or a belt to snag your leather, and longer in the body. Nick

I can also vouch for the Irvin lightweight - - coincidentally mine arrived today. Really great service from Moto-Lita especially as the delivery was to Belgium. I'm really pleased with it. I fully support the comment about the lightweight being good for driving - it's nice to wear and very very comfortable. I'm sure it will be a fine friend for life !

In my opinion Eastman is surely the best replica of the WWII IRVIN flying jacket optimum if you have to fly. But to drive a Mog light Moto-Lita is more practical. You have also 2 outside pockets very useful. ciao fabrizio

If you wanted a B3 or another Irvin alternative, http://www.uswings.com is worth a look.
