I suspect the inner sleeve that the spring is rubbing on is plastic, so the rubbing is probably not a big deal, and I'd be surprised if it makes any noise. That said, it is likely the way the spring seat or plastic dust cover is seated at the top of the shock - probably skewed a bit causing the interference...

The cover that is getting scraped is indeed plastic, I gave it a dose of acf-50 and we'll worry about it no more.
