Ha - what summer?

I was away for a week and missed it. it's more like mid-autumn here today umbrella

I've only done about 400 miles or so and the bevel box is quieter but not quiet.

It's still noisiest around 55-65 but more a soft spoken voice than a shriek - if that makes sense?

However, the drive belt was also tightened at the service so that could also be having an effect so overall nothing conclusive.

It would be interesting if others try a switch to EP140 as well to see if there is a trend.

Another update - I did about 300 miles this weekend and Saturday was reasonably hot with plenty of rapid motoring.

The BB is continuing to be quieter with the EP140 and was livable with.

I don't think it's a cure but it does help with the syptoms - worth a try when you're changing the oil.

Finally driven enough I can make a fairly Intelligent (?) judgement. My car is a 2012. 4,500 miles. California (not too hot). Two changes of Redline gear oil. Last winter I installed a NACA duct. 12 inches forward from the bevel box. My conclusion is that the BB noise is still there, but at 1/4 the sound level when during a long hot drive as opposed to a scream between 40-60 MPH before the duct installation. Now the BIG question is---has my BB worn in properly OR have the changes ie, oil changes, NACA duct made the difference?

My own findings. Fair amount of screeching from BB during first 1000 miles. At my request dealer changed BB oil to the Redline Shockproof I supplied at 1000 mile service, following recommendations on this forum. Noise appeared to reduce but screech returned on motorway runs between 76 and 82 mph.

At 4000 mile service carried out by KH, I offered the remaining Redline but their mechanic found it a little thin so they used their regular EP90 (Millers or Morris?). Have now covered a further 500 miles in admittedly cooler temps, but cannot recall any screeching during that time.

Since getting the car recommendations seems to have swayed towards Millers EP140 which I suspect may be the better in reducing noise.

I tried the Millars oil in the leaking and screaming BB of my wife's car. The leaking improved a lot but for the screaming there was no improvement at all. ( this compared to the Redline oil)
A few months ago Steve Morris promised us a "coming soon solution" for the screaming bevel boxes but till so far it remains very silent at MMC.
Anyone knows if they still working on a solution ??

Hi Laurens,

I emailed Mark Evans a few weeks ago and yes they are working on it.

He's said he'll post an update when he has something definitive.

Mine sounds like it has straight cut gears once it warms up. I only have 350 miles on it, so I'm doing nothing until I get a couple thousand miles on it.
