I've been knocking about social media since the '80s
Forgive my ignorance, but how? I didn't see my first web browser until around '94 and social sites didn't arrive until nearer the end of that decade? Was I just very late to the party?

Strange that there's always more guests and spiders than registered users too.
26 users on at the mo plus 21 'guests' and 20 spiders. This does seem to be the norm.

Interestingly of the top 30 posters, I have met at least 22, some several times..........  Crikey. I'm n°14 in the list of TM blabbermouths, and I don't even own a Mog any more. What a gob$hite. If you'd like me to shut up, just say !! Oh, and I've yet to have the pleasure of meeting Dave.

Ive had a look too, I'm a relative new born and I'm already in the top 10% of posters of all time!
I've only just begun my midlife crisis, but of those who have posted, there's a very high proportion of members listed as retired people,. Give it thirty or forty years and you won't get that silent majority to shut up.

I guess you are not aware of Usenet. It was arguably the first social media system and commonly used by university researchers and such. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet

I wonder if people sign up as they "think" they have to and realize they don't need to afterwards. Equally I wonder if these are some kind of spam accounts where they join and try to post something that gets stopped.
