Just a thought, has it been confirmed that the spec. of shocks bought through UK agent are the same as US supplied ones?

I believe that the shocks are the same but I don't know if the springs are the same.

Sorry, but this simply does not make any sense. The shock should not "care" how stiff or soft the spring is - at least with respect to wear. The only difference a stiff spring should make relative to the shock is the relative damping effect (or lack of) that the short travel may cause. The only thing, other than a defect, that could cause wear prematurely on the cylinder is if the shock was under some sort of lateral tension caused by mis-alligned mounting. Ie, the top of the shock and the bottom of the shock are not concentric. I've seen this where the shock mount is bound-up and the self-centering action of the rubber bush or spherical mount is not able to align the top with the bottom. Alternatively, if the suspension motion causes the shock to bind up as the suspension moves. You can check this easily by installing the shock without the spring, and moving the suspension across it's full travel and ensuring that the shock doesn't bind.

I suppose the spring itself could also be a cause of the problem if the spring mount causes it to "jam" the shock piston sideways.

Yes, Gary thinks it's from a lack of spring travel from the spring being too stiff.
From some GoPro footage maybe they can come up with a better matched spring. Just glad ohlins is interested in find tuning their great shocks to our M3W. Maybe after all this testing the factory could make them an option 😊

I don't buy it - makes no sense to me. If the spring was that stiff, you would certainly notice the impact on the ride, but regardless, it should not affect the wear on the shocks (unless you're talking about 50K miles or more perhaps). I would be much more suspicious of a shock alignment issue.

I must say I'm feeling bit concerned, they look and feel so good surprised of trouble so soon! hope mine last a bit longer!!!!!

At 3500 dollars (Öhlins quoted price here in Sweden), they'd better!

Drove mine for an hour yesterday, in near freezing weather, smiling all the way! Our V-twin really likes cold air. I myself tolerate it.
