Hi,
I have started the search to buy my first Morgan and looking at the Classic Plus 8. I currently have a 2005 TVR Tuscan Convertible and a 1991 TVR V8S. I am hopefully going to replace the Tuscan with a Plus 8 (circa 2000 model)
I do have questions regarding living with a Plus 8 in terms of ride quality. The car will be mainly used for weekends and touring.
Any pointers regarding living with a Plus 8 would be appreciated.

Sounds like a good plan: as an owner of a V8s you know that 8 is best!

You said you were looking for a car weekend and touring. I fear that after the V8S IRS front and rear you will find the classic Morgan +8 suspension a move back in time. Yes, there is a lot that can be done with the classic Morgan setup, but it is something that lives in its own charming, sepia tinted, time-warp.

The Aero Plus 8 is another matter entirely. Looks like a traditional Morgan, goes and rides like a modern car, thanks to the Chris Lawrence designed front and rear IRS. There are modern aids, like ABS, heated seats and both Autobox and A/C too, if wanted. It is a car that can be driven all day, anywhere and with a 4.8L BMW V8 is never short of power.

Welcome Dave. You are in a similar place where I started, back in 2008. The only difference being that my V8 experience was in an MGB.

All I would add is that you should also try a Series 1 V6 Roadster from the period 2004 - 2006 before you decide.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Aero's - they are for old blokes who like all the frills........

Welcome Dave, I've owned six Morgan's, four of which have been plus 8's never had an issue with the ride quality. As you're aiming for a post 2000 car then they were all long door models by then you won't have an issue. Good hunting, beamish Morgan sometimes have some nice cars but well worth travelling for the right car.

I have a Plus8, 1993 vintage so a bit older than your pitch.
The one big negative we have found is excessive footwell heat on the passenger side. Seems to come from exhaust heat from our single LH pipe. Might be less of a problem on twin pipe models?Later models might well have improved??
But then again if you are mostly solo then absolutely no problem

Welcome to TM you come well prepared in experience, I ran a Reliant Scimitar GTE for several years and learnt a lot about missing earth return wiring.

The Plus 8 is a great car to live with providing your expectations are not a nice silent quick dry tourer.

The suspension can be played with extensively mine just has adjustable Koni's on each corner and that suits me fine.

The best advice as always is to drive at least 2 examples to arrive at a kind of handling benchmark, a well maintained one should feel taught and precise in steering.
I have owned 3 cars 2 Plus 8's and a Sport they have never let me down in 50,000 miles and ironically the brand new Sport bits kept falling off it all the time but they were only cosmetic and just glued on..
