What will your break in procedure be? I am breaking in a rebuilt TR powered +4. 500 miles below 50 MPH, re tighten head and then go to beat hell and loosen it up fast. Not sure this is a good idea on a New Morgan. Maybe not a good idea on a rebuilt old engine. But, so far, I get a pretty good engine but not a pretty long life engine. I will change oil every 500 miles to about 2,000 miles. Oil with ZDDP added. Hi Button As has been said new engines don't really need running in anymore . I will take it easy for the first 1k no more than 50/60 MPH in case anything else decides to fall off  No seriously I'm not expecting any issues (touch wood) none of the others gave me to many problems even had one that didn't leak

I'm not sure engines don't need running in any more. It's more that they don't need a strict running in regime. The advice I always stick to is to drive normally and just keep increasing the load on the engine up to about 1000 miles. Seems to do the trick.

Although as you say, cars don't really need "running in" these days, I still feel it is wise to take it easy for the first 1000 or so if only to bed the tyres and brakes in. I agree. If you have a new car then taking the first 1,000 miles fairly gently will do no harm. The key thing is to keep varying the speed (no motorways) and don't rev the nuts off. I've done this on every new engine I've owned and it won't have done any harm.

And don't lug it down to low revs with a heavy load (e.g. going uphill)...

With speed limits and modern motors with more power and efficiency than old ones, revs are lower at same speed with a 5 gearbox. Particularly on a Morgan with high gearbox ratios you are quite always under middle of max rev which is compliant with running.But with using always too low rev, the motor will not be free and cannot reach its maximum power.

Ive got 2,000 gentle miles on my roadster now so I opened it up a few times at the weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its fast 4.000 revs was enough on B roads.Over takes are over in a flash.
WOW its going to be a licence loser.just need to get a louder exhaust so it sounds as fast as it goes. I wish I could manage that! - overtaking in a flash. I don't feel that confident overtaking in my standard 1800 Zetec; change will have to wait until next year. Here's hoping a new inlet, manifold, exhaust and remap will do the trick!
