Here ya go. Very similar in size. Amp hours read a bit low but it's equivalent to an 84 amp hour Lead Acid battery. That and nearly 2000 cranking amps.

Only $2100.

But yeah otherwise I'd go with the VARTA like Richard mentioned here and in that previous reply.

Dab of oppo, Atalante,which Varta did you choose? There are two mentioned, 30a ( 530 030 030) and 40a (540 126 033).

They both seem to have the same dimensions (same footprint as the Banner but taller) so I can't see a reason not to go for the 40. Cold cranking amps are 330, vs 300 for the original Banner (I can't find this anywhere though so basing myself on a comment on the other thread). The Varta 30a is rated at 180 CCA so sounds low.

Did you fix a higher battery clamp and replace the round terminals?

I don't have power in my garage so can't use a battery conditioner. I do use a Battery Brain to disconnect the battery but a lead acid will still discharge. The lithium should last longer with this regime which is why I went for this one.

Re the time to discharge - if you have the immobiliser you are probably looking at 3-4 weeks to a point where it may well fail to start.

Performance wise, I don't really any difference to the lead acid other than in the cold weather it seems to keep cranking without feeling strained for much longer if that makes sense?

Watched this thread at the start of the week and very nearly posted something along the lines of "four years and counting without a battery conditioner never mind a charger, two dead regulators and no issues with the original Banner battery; so what's the problem?" I am now really rather glad that I resisted the temptation...on Thursday I went to start it and got the machine gun solenoid routine; it had been sitting for about four weeks so just used a booster to get it going, ran it around to charge it up then did the oil change and such things. Went to go for a run yesterday...almost started without the booster but not quite then after about an hour's driving I stopped for about ten minutes to take some pictures and it refused to start without the booster. Cutting long story short I now have a lithium battery on order that hopefully will be less bothered by being left sitting for weeks on end. I also rather like the lithium battery booster pack I bought a couple of months back that not only starts dead three wheelers but recharges extremely quickly from the 12V socket.

An easy starting engine will mask the inevitable decline in battery capacity over time, taking as little as 5% of new capacity, which is quickly replaced once engine started.

Cold weather hits you on two fronts though, slower cranking caused by thicker oil and less current available from battery due to its chemistry. Add in the fact during winter that car is started less frequently and your previously apparently fine battery gives up in disgust as you have found frown

A full re-charge will offer only temporary respite with such a battery as it's very much at the end of its downward spiral, retaining only a fraction of its original capacity.
