Good afternoon - I have very recently become a very proud owner of a 2008 "new model" +4 4 seater (will post some picture soon!) We would like to take our 18 month year old son out to give him the Morgan bug early - in fact he has it already to be honest. Is anybody able to recommend (or have experience of) an Isofix child seat for this model. This model has Isofix capability but child seats can vary in terms of suitability for different cars/seat shape.

Thanks very much for a great forum - I have learned so much as a novice in recent months in my build up to ownership. Looking forward to learning so much more !
Best regards,
John

not really a specific recommendation but, I have found the Recaro Start seat to fit well in all kinds of cars - even tvr cerbera.

Hi John and welcome, I look forward to seeing photos of your car.

As a suggestion, Halfords offer a trial fitting at most of their shops, as do Mothercare. Both have a good selection of seats and should be able to try a few to ensure the correct fit.

As the 4-seater rear seats sit higher than the front row, making them prone to more wind buffeting, I would avoid an Isofix seat that requires a separate base unit (the seat clicks onto the Isofix base, rather than having the unit integrated) and try one that is 'all-in-one'.

Another options is BMW/Mini/Porsche all sell the same seat and while it was pricey, I found it to be an excellent seat for my daughter - easy to install, easy to put the child into and excellent safety rating.

I've posted a photo so you can see what I'm talking about: -

They are available direct from any BMW, Mini or Porsche dealer and only the colour options vary from brand to brand (the seat is the same).

You can often get them on eBay, new, for reduced prices - most dealers don't stock them thus if someone orders one in and doesn't pick it up, they often end up at cost on eBay via the dealerships 'shop'.

Welcome to the forum John. I can't offer any current advice on child seats. My daughter spent her whole childhood in the back of a BGT. First in a two point fixing seat, then a booster with four point belt, then on the back seat with a four point. For the last few years until she cried enough at thirteen, she made do with a lapbelt. I knocked up a centre head restraint for extra safety.... wink
Of course, legislation and 'things' have moved on and the choice of solutions seems more limited.
Now she's pushing 27, without ill effects, except that she may have been damaged by continuous over-exposure to classic cars and car shows. At least she likes the Morgan, and wants a Morgan or similar for her wedding car...........
That'll give me something to sort out when they eventually set the date.

Thank you very much for the advice everyone - this definitely gives me something to work on. Much appreciated.

I hope to post some pictures tomorrow (and go for a drive in the Morgan of course !).

Fingers crossed for some more sun.

John
