The prices still seem rather high, even taking shipping into account. A lot of people are charging for this and that between Malvern and the man in the Outback with corks dangling from his hat. Unfortunately a fair slice of that price is the Luxury Car Tax. https://www.ato.gov.au/rates/luxury-car-tax-rate-and-thresholds/VAT in Australia is 10% but there is a 33% additional tax on the value above the threshold, which is currently $64,132 Add to that the shipping costs, customs clearance etc and you have a significant cost increse over a UK vehicle. Also the Australian Design Rule compliance is a costly process and these costs must be recovered. Interestingly there seem to be changes in the pipeline and from next year it may become much simpler and less costly to import a second hand vehicle. http://www.businessinsider.com.au/cars-are-about-to-get-a-whole-lot-cheaper-in-australia-2016-2One can only hope that this proposal will go ahead.

Following on from recent good news that the sale of 3 Wheelers can continue in Australia, the Department of Transport has also given the green light for Classic models to be sold once again. Great news and a victory for common sense  More details on the Morgan Cars Australia website here. Thanks also goes to the Brexit outcome for helping to reduce our prices too  It would still be cheaper to buy one here and ship it, if the prices on the web site are correct.

Excellent news. During my recent four weeks down under I saw no Morgans and met numerous people in their autumn years who had never seen a Morgan. If Australia is to call itself a civilized country this can't be allowed to continue.
