The ECU would be a a box that is sealed, or semi sealed, and on one side there would be a socket that has a row of many pins into which a plug from the wiring loom connects. The wires that connect to that plug carry the inputs from the various sensors and the outputs to the fuel injectors, instruments (via the MFU - Multi Function Unit), etc.

Below is a photo that Peter J published in TM of his Roadster ECU box.

"The actual ECU is underneath the black box, which is the interface betwen the Ford Engine and the Smiths Instruments."

Always puzzles me that Morgan manages to make the customer pay for problems that should not exist when it comes to design issues or components that don't perform as they should.

Just to add to my earlier post.

My 3.7 sailed though it's MOT in June .

No emission issues at all.

Just jumped onto this thread from a recent one I started on this subject. I don't seem to suffer (that I've noticed) from rev hang when easing off in gear or down shifting (when it may be an advantage), but up shifting I definatly get a lumpy change unless I wait for revs to drop.

Being a very new owner I was assuming it was an engine trait I would need to learn to live with, but after a technician at Krazy Horse my local dealer pointed out this was an established issue, I'm encouraged to have it sorted.

IF an ECU upgrade can be had, and as the OP of this thread suggests without emission or economy issues, then I want it. Will begrudgingly accept the extra 20 bhp if its necessary innocent

FWIW this is image inside my fuse box. Central box is switch control board - ECU is underneath, so nothing to be seen.

In any case will be contacting my dealer.

ETA: Forgot to add the up change issue I have is very noticeable on the generally very light throttle I have been on an engine having covered only a few hundred miles, and at modest revs say around 3000 rpm. Concerned now having read a little more of this long thread, there may be worse to come scared

Surely Ford who make the engine will have a fix for this...or is it something to do with this engine is modified to install into a Morgan?

Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

Accepted view seems to be the ECU settings favour the more common auto transmission in the engines original application.

Fords's involvment has been discussed earlier in this thread
