Well im in Michigan, working double shifts, and its 12 Fahrenheit. That about covers it!
I've been pounding out my new Boardtrack racer bike tank. I had 5 gal bobber tanks on it originally and had the right side tank cut out and boxed to hide my main frame mounted battery.
But the front and rear profiles did not look good at all. So it's off they come and now I'm making a left and right tank from scratch. I bought a bunch of weld-in bungs from Jegs along with a few gas cap weld-in bungs with caps.
I think the new tanks will have more of the historic look of the late teens and early twenty's Harleys. I think I'm going to end up with around 3.5 to 4 gallon capacity.
I'll also have to now make an oil tank as the right side bobber 2.5 gal right side tank that covered the battery holds 6 qts of oil and that was going to be my oil tank.
I did get the pipes completed and sent off to Jet-Hot for satin black ceramic coating. They look pretty good except for just a few hit and miss pits from my welding. I could see them before they were blasted and coated. They're hard to see and won't take anything away from looks and they won't leak.
I'll post pictures after the holidays. I know it's not a M3W, but there are a lot of bike guys here too.
So tonight I will BEAT on something and I know I'll feel better.
Then Friday it's off to central Michigan to spend Christmas with my brother and our somewhat large family. Always fun to go back home. I've been gone now for 14 years and feel bad that during that time my dad passed and I was not able to spend more time with him. So I'm trying to make as much time as I can for my brother and his family. He's 74 and has lost pretty much all of his balance. His brain stem has been shrinking over the past 10 years and I think most of his inner ears are dead and have no control over his balance. If he's standing and shuts his eyes, he falls over. He's does the walker think now and it's really hard to see him like this. He was always hunting, fishing and very active. So now we talk a lot and reminisce about the bad old days. I get him laughing and he feels better then.
Sorry to ramble on and on guys.
Seriously I hope you all have a great holidays, you Ken...
