I am really sorry to hear of your misfortune , no matter how much we practice or think we can control the car, black ice remains one of the most difficult to deal with. There really is no training you can do to prepare you.
As others have said the main thing is that you are OK, albeit shaken and stirred, and everything else can be mended.
Hope everything goes more to plan from here onwards.

lucky escape indeed. Black ice is like a laxative. as Ray said, you become a passenger waiting for the crunch. A diesel spillage, especially on damp roads is nearly as bad...I had an experience 4 years ago on the Mogs at Windermere trip. It prompted a couple of us to fit rollbars for some protection. It still amazes me to see drivers going at normal and fast speeds when all the clues are there to say slow down. Frost, snow, grit, water, etc.. I think that they assume a modern car will keep them safe or deal with skids for them. anyway, glad you are ok and keep us posted.
The best advice for black ice is during the winter months [ Nov to march] is to watch the sky at night. If it is clear always be aware of a possible chance of ice. Easyer with the hood off.... Talking northen Europe.

I think we both learnt the hard way, replace them early.
Stay away from old Contis! I changed mine after a very scary experience. Happy now with Vredesteins.
Me too but these new Michelin (and other similar ) Cross Climate compounds sound interesting Vredestein also do a cross climate
Finding winter tyres to replace 165/80 -15" Contis on a 4/4 won't be easy. It's not a very common size these days. On black ice I doubt any summer tyre would cope.
Glad it's superficial damage to the car Phil. I had Nero's backend skip out on damp cold roads a couple of days ago...makes one a tad cautious when the temperature is low!

I don't know if you've used a dent-devil company before, but you'd be amazed at what they can repair, I've used them loads. But I think a Mog is one of those cars that can wear dents with pride, like an old Land Rover.
