Hi I have a 1965 plus 4 tr4 engine has anyone installed a gear reduction starter mine needs a new one and I was considering one of these

I had one on the 4/4. Poor old Lucas one could only just turn the engine over with my silly compression ratio. Geared unit was expensive, but well worth it.

Gemmer was 1st best, gear reduction starter 2nd best, alternator 3rd best, Porterfield brake linings 4th best, 72 spoke wheels and new Khumo tires 5th best. And so it goes.

I had the same problem with my 2 litre zetec 4/4 .
Put a wosp one on from Midland electrical very helpful.
But peace of mind starting now

Stupid question, when I install the new gear reduction starter does the main bolt for the battery cable go on top or on the bottom thanks in advance
