Well on Friday afternoon I decided to tackle the job of changing to throttle bodies on the plus 4. The kit I had was a complete kit built by OMEX and ordered through Williams. Very impressed by the completeness of the kit and the specialised wiring harness for the Morgan +4. The only thing lacking was a detailed fitting instruction, they were supplied, but just did not provide enough photos and explanations. With a couple of phone calls to Gambulunga and OMEX support and a few more texts and emails from Peter we got there in the end. Finished the job on Saturday afternoon, I guess a total of about 8 hours in all. Had the kit included real bolts instead of Allen key heads I could have saved an hour at least. The one job that took time was connecting the one wire to the original harness under the dash, the +4 is lower than the 4/4 and a bugger to get under especially with a mending new knee. At 4pm I turned the ignition and it started and idled straight away. Went for a quick run and yes it has more power, much more don't know. It does sound a bit growlier and I love it.
This is something I want to get round to doing to mine. Well done for fitting it yourself. Did you have to programme anything or was it set up right straight out of the box?
Blackadder, it was almost plug and play. Some mechanical knowledge required ( not huge, more common sense). Minimum tools. If you are going down this route, I recommend the OMEX kit. Over the next month or so, I am going to write a decent set of instructions with some user tips fo this. Combined with Gambalungas it should make for a comprehensive set.
