So whilst I love the engine sound of my Plus 4, I am planning on taking it to our house in mid France next year. And with 5 hours from Caen on an autoroute (more on the RN) I think we would benefit from some music from the ipod. Not fussed about radio - its poor in France. So I am thinking along the following lines:
- replace the radio blank with a custom panel with a couple of USB charging points and a cigarette lighter socket for satnav (I suspect the plug will drop out of the one under the dash), plus a phono in connection.
- provide hardwired split phonos to the parcel shelf where we could either plug in two earphones or perhaps sit a standalone speaker (like a Bluetooth one).
- Plug in my old steam powered ipod into the dash and bobs your uncle.
- Add some footwell lighting to the "radio" panel too whilst I am at it.
Not convinced about driving with earphones - but it was ok on the motorbike listening to music on headphones built into the helmet.
Thoughts? Anyone do this?

As the wiring is already in place, I bought a USB/Bluetooth radio from Halfords (£40.00) a pair of top quality high powered speakers (£40.00) and fit them myself.
I could then use a USB stick with my music on or Bluetooth it to the unit. I did not bother with an aerial for the radio as I don't like the look of them on the side of the car and the one I did have on my roadster always vibrated and rattled in the wind.
An Easy fit.

If you use a garmin 660 or newer sat nav you can load your choice of music onto it  but best listen via earphones or blue tooth. So listen to your own music and don't get lost

Nick Not on a Morgan - I havent got one. But in the Lotus which was fitted with an expensive Blaupunkt DAB radio, I found trying to listen through speakers just irritated the hell out of me. Instead I used earbuds and pre recorded music from my phone. Mind you the phone has radio anyway Its the same set up I use on the boat and down at the gym. And on the bike too

If the roof is off its never going to be possible to hear the radio and with the roof on its boomy , I can hear the cd at the traffic lights on red but after that it needs turning up a fair bit , and then down again if stopping !
Geneva 2016 plus 8' The Green Godess' 4 side exits .

I have tried listening to the radio/CD a number of times but have given up, as it ends up way too loud. I am happier with the factory fitted shake, rattle and roll !

Nick Nick. From your post, I assume you have made this journey before, but not in the Morgan. Can I make an alternative suggestion? Adopt a different approach with the Morgan. A pleasant, lazy drive on the N roads (an overnight stop en-route if required). A stop for coffee and a stop for lunch. On our trips to France, we have had some great experiences driving this way. We've been invited to join a picnic; invited back to a Morgan owners French home after meeting them at a stop; and asked to park outside a local café, with the reward of free coffee and cake! Wonderful stuff and no need for music.

I can't understand people who plug in earbuds when driving ,M/cycling, cycling, running etc, it removes one of your most important senses. Lets face it you you need all your senses when driving in todays conditions. For one thing you won't hear emergency vehicles coming that's for sure
