I got the impression that the lack of suitable tyres knocked the narrow body Plus4 on the head. Sadly.

I got the impression that the lack of suitable tyres knocked the narrow body Plus4 on the head. Sadly. I'm surprised that the tyres fitted to the 4/4 are ok for the 110bhp of the Sigma engine but not adequate for the 143bhp of the Gdi? Doesn't seem like that much of a difference to me?

The plus 4 would be heavier, its the number before the letter, it's not to do with power.

The plus 4 would be heavier, its the number before the letter, it's not to do with power. Yes, 795kg v 927kg is a more significant difference, but neither are exactly lardy, the early MX5s were 970 Kg - although admittedly they had 5.5" rims. Avon CR's are apparently made in 175x15 which will fit 5" rims, and I'm surprised they aren't up to a 930kg/140bhp car. But if MMC can only get hold of 185 tyres, or the 175s are only available in soft compound, I can see why they won't fit them to 5" rims.

175/70HR15s should be up to the job though and probably more choice.

The CRZ's are expensive and at the moment there are some good deals on these but at 10000 miles it is too early for me at the moment!

Are you saying that this large weight difference is down to the engine change from 4/4 to plus 4?

Are you saying that this large weight difference is down to the engine change from 4/4 to plus 4? This weight numbers considering the Plus4 NB seem to be more in the 3.0 Roadster territory. Are the number of the MMC announcement really correct? TBH the same issue happens with any other brand with the exception that the basic weights should be right. But if you order extras with a BMW or similar brand they never show you the exact add on of weight online if you e.g. order a sun roof or leather seats etc. Anyway the Plus4 NB should be a nice choice but I'm personally more than happy with my 4/4 due to the advantage of the even better balanced car. Just to swap for a sports manifold makes her significantly sufficient. But on the other hand, the difference of 132 Kg between a Sigma 1.6 and a 2.0 engine seems to be ridiculously much too high. ...Or MMC has changed other items also to reach the claimed amount of weight regarding the P4 NB....Or the condition of measuring has changed (e.g. dry curb weight vs. two passengers on board and a half filled petrol tank or whatsever).
