Well as the saying goes, you have to grow old but you dont have to grow up! As a teen, my son had a big poster on his bedroom wall. It was a picture of a guy in an armchair with two enormous speakers at each side. Written underneath was " if its too loud, you're too old".

Music in a Morgan??? Surely that's what the engine and exhaust are for. Please of course the blood curdling screams from SWMBO when you just won't slow down. I have tried listening to the radio/CD a number of times but have given up, as it ends up way too loud. I am happier with the factory fitted shake, rattle and roll ! This was true in my Roadster, but the sound system in the Aero +8 is actually quite good. Quite decent up to about 70 with the hood down. Music on the move is a great idea.

Don't miss music, but do miss traffic and news... For traffic, Graham, you may wish to consider investing in a new SatNav. I've just picked up a TomTom Via 62, which uses your phone's data link to provide live updates of traffic conditions along your route. It shows you how far away the hold up is, how long it's likely to delay you, and gives you the option of seeking an alternate route. The other nice thing that will appeal to map-lovers like you and me is that you can go on to Google Maps, set out a route that takes you on the roads you want to go on, and you can then convert the route to a GPX file and download it to the SatNav. I used it yesterday to plot a very quiet B road route to Bicester and back, and it worked very well. No news, though...

I have traffic on my Garmin Tim. However, I still like to hear what the local radio station tells me. That's just me!

The other nice thing that will appeal to map-lovers like you and me is that you can go on to Google Maps, set out a route that takes you on the roads you want to go on, and you can then convert the route to a GPX file and download it to the SatNav.
I used it yesterday to plot a very quiet B road route to Bicester and back, and it worked very well.
I like the sound of that.... One of the things on my bucket list is to drive to the South of France avoiding the peage - I hope to do it one day, but would definitely need this type of thing.

I can't understand people who plug in earbuds when driving ,M/cycling, cycling, running etc, it removes one of your most important senses. Lets face it you you need all your senses when driving in todays conditions. For one thing you won't hear emergency vehicles coming that's for sure  Agree with you, especially runners and cyclists, but on a motorbike I have to disagree. Hearing is easily damaged and riding a bike with a crash helmet at speed generates sound levels that damage hearing. My ENT Consultant strongly advises wearing sound reducing earplugs. I started wearing them in 2000...the damage was already done. I had hearing aids fitted today.

I don't think earbuds are a good idea when driving but we have music going in the car a good deal of the time. We also sometimes have the radio tuned to a station that gives traffic report.
Whatever the case when anyone asks a question about car stereo in a Morgan there is always a few unhelpful responses from people that think music is unnecessary in a Morgan.
I have music, I have aircon, I have modified the suspension, I put the hood up when it rains, I put the hood up when the sun is too hot. I guess I don't meet some people's expectation of a typical Morgan driver, but I like it like that. I have all that Peter has, use the hood quite often and I also have Air Bags, Heated Seats, ABS and Power Steering. Yes, there are those that say I'm a soft, spoilt Morgan owner and then go on about "real Morgan owners". Then they go on to say a Plus 8 isn't a "REAL" Morgan. You know, I don't care. I'm happy in my exclusivity eccentricity. So there!

I've done it a few times, it's a long drive (we did it in two days, stopping at Sarlat La Caneda on the way) but well worth it in my view. Loads of lovely little towns to stop off at, a very relaxed way of doing it. Our most-used route was St-Malo-Rennes-Angers-Poitiers-Angouleme-Perigeux-Sarlat-Montauban-Castres-Albi-Carcasonne-Narbonne.
