When I moved to Massachusetts and went to take my Mass driving test 15 years ago the woman police officer took one look at me and said "sign here" -- I didn't even have to get into my car for the test!

I passed my car driving test in my mother's Ford Fiesta 1.6L. The 100hp were handy for the hill start ;-)
Motorbike driving test was awful, especially when you have to ride 10 meters in more than 12sec.

I had lessons in a Mini, took the Test in the same Mini (1976) and bought...a Mini. I am still amazed that on the second lesson I was asked to book my Test due to the delay in appointments. The Test came up at lesson 14...and I passed. I was lucky. I certainly wasn't safe on the road for another year, or was it ten. It took a long time to dissipate the boy racer in me.

Adding my first car.......Bedford HA van. Based on the Viva car. Bought for peanuts from insurance company after storage for months due to delays. My dad made an offer to the assessor. Dent in roof pushed ou, new widscreen, second hand bonnet and front wing, total respray with Permabel paint sample from a rep. Seats put in back. On the road for £105. Sold after 3 years with 100k miles for £80. Replaced by a 1750 Maxi. So.......I started off with some real classy cars! When in my teens I worked with my dad in the holidays. Coachbuilder. I got to move many varied and awesome cars round the workshops/yard. Also repairs etc. I remember a Citroen Athena, Jenson, Chevrolet Impala( massive thing), Rolls Royce, Bristols.....

NIce MG Bert ...u must have been quite well off! Thank you, yes it was very nice and came with several extras. Notably, a beautifully styled factory hardtop, luggage-rack, chrome-plated grille guard, radio and for cold weather, a very nicely done and perfectly fitting winter-front that I still retain. I wasn't particularly well-off, but had diligently saved-up earnings from various summer jobs to accumulate a substantial down-payment while still in high school in anticipation of a first car purchase. I'll always rue the day I made the decision to part with it.......

I failed my motor bike test on a sunbeam s8 with a chair on first time by not looking behind when approaching a right turn. Passed car test first time in a Truimph Herald. Two tone green. What a lovely little car. If only British management could have sensibly rationalised our car industry we would have lead the world through the eighties and not hit the buffers.

Passed 1st time much to the annoyance of my older brother in a mk1 escort 1300e, instructors car, my 1st car was a 4 yr old mini 1000, sold it to a work mate and cycled for 6 months whilst saving hard to buy my 1st Morgan a 4/4 2 seater. Graham owned the same car sometime later.

When I took the bike test it was just before you had to do the figure of 8 stuff before going on the road. The examiner followed in a car giving instruction by an earpiece they gave me. Tim

I passed my driving test on the first go in my 1963 Buick Electra 225 two door hardtop. It was a great car to make out in. I wish I still had that ride. Then I got my motorcycle endorsement on my 650 BSA Lighting.
