Hey Everyone,

I am trying to get some diagnostics off of the ECU to understand why my check engine light is on. I can't seem to locate the USB connection on the ECU.

Can one of you kind dudes provide some help? A photo would be wonderful!!!

Thanks!

Hi Tom

There should be Pix in another thread, However from an oral point of view , here goes
The ECU is underneath the fuses, Right hand side looking from the front. It is a flat rectangular black thing.
On its right hand side you should see two very small allen screws which hold a cover plate over the USB connection.
Very easy to lose the screws so have a cloth underneath when undoing.
Cover plate is maybe 1 inch by 1/2 inch.

Hope this helps

Awesome!!! Thanks so much guys! Another reason why I love this forum...

I'll try to connect to the ECU tomorrow. Hope I don't run into any software driver issues like I've read about. I just want to understand what's causing the check engine light to stay on.

Do you guys know if there's a way to clear the code if it's a simple "problem"? Is the software read only or can you actually get in there and make changes?

Thanks again!

The manual for Pro-tune II software is downloadable here. Page 34 covers clearing historic codes.

It takes a mini-USB, not a micro-USB. Most Android phones use micro, nowadays.
Cameras use mini much more often, just so that you know where to look for a cable.

Thanks Richard.

The Check Engine Light has been on since Day 1, but the car seems to drive and operate normally....though I have no basis of comparison.

Hope this isn't a big problem and I can get the okay from my dealer to clear the code.

I had an engine check light problem, dealer thought it was oxygen (lambda) sensors. Fixed but returned before I got home. I ran with it for over 2 months & 1000 miles. At second attempt they tried various things swapping parts off a good one. After several consultations with MMC it turned out to be the engine ECU which was changed under warranty.
