I once attended a demonstration of a water jet cutter which used nothing more than high pressure water to cut through a piece of 1 inch steel plate.

I might occasionally use a garden sprayer but I wouldn't use a pressure washer. It's a blunt instrument and can put water where it shouldn't be.
OK for cleaning concrete drives though.

OK for cleaning concrete drives though. And brickwork and patios and coping stones ....

Arwyn Most water jet cutters use powdered Garnet as an abrasive, the water jet is just the medium that carries the Garnet to the workpiece. Simon @ SiFab.co.uk

We installed in the early 80s a pressure jet cutter using veg oil to cut crunchie bars to shape (or at least the foamed sugar core). Before that the bars were cut from blocks with a band saw that caused a lot of waste. This waste was then used by Cadbury in Keynsham as Crunchie rework syrup once redisolved in sugar.
The new system meant far less waste so less CRS. The CRS had a strong flavor so we had then to create CRS to feed all the other lines like Turkish delight

OK for cleaning concrete drives though. And brickwork and patios and coping stones .... Not so sure! After  gets her hands on the power washer and is let loose in the garden I have all manner of repair work to deal with.

My is like that too! Off she goes Blasting Lance at the fore - nothing in her path is safe!! And she has a strange smile on her face - quite a worry!!   She was thrilled this week when I told her that the garden furniture would need doing too!

There's a familiar thread emerging here, Jane is equally enthusiastic at blasting crud off pretty much anything in sight with our pressure washer.
