Triumph Herald again. Examiner said 'turn here' so I went around in one turn. He took me down a narrow lane and I did it again. He did however pass me. The lock was so good you could skid straight forward on full lock from a standing start. Motor bike Royal Enfield 250 Continental. Great looking but embarassing against the Hondas which looked like shopping bikes.

Passed first time in a driving school Metro, in Chester in April 1986. I'd done most of my practising between lessons in the family Volvo 245 estate, so changing between that and the BSM Metro was a good introduction to spatial awareness!
First car owned was a 1973 Hillman Hunter (1725cc, 4-speed-plus-overdrive gearbox, monstrous wobble somewhere in the drivetrain between 65 and 68 mph) in many different shades of beige (I think it was supposed to be "bronze") that I bought for 130 quid from a small ad in the paper, ran for a year and 10,000 miles, and sold on to a guy in a pub for the same price I paid for it. I don't know if he was in any fit state to drive it home, but it was no longer my problem by then...

Independent instructor, Morris Marina 1500cc, took test in Winchester May 1976, passed first time. Instructor drove me home after like a lunatic to put me off driving stupidly.

Also Passed first time in Instructors Dual Control Austin A45. Lovey to drive. Only made more difficult by the Missing Matchsticks from the side and rear windows.
The instructor used to teach Army HGV Trainees at Bordon Camp during the day so all of my lessons taken at night in the winter.
He had a habit of slipping trucks into neutral when the driver was concentrating so I was watching his every move.

Bike test was too easy examiner stands on a corner, go do a left circuit right circuit emergency stop... whats this sign mean? you've passed...1977 in Greenford west London..
Weybridge, 1968, much as you describe, a couple of circuits that included a right turn at a crossroads. I was only aware of the examiner when he leaned out from the pavement with his clipboard to indicate I should carry out an emergency stop. Given the streets were residential with trees on both sides I'm reasonably certain he couldn't see me most of the time! The test lasted about 15 mins, and ended with about 5 questions from the Highway code. He didn't actually tell me I'd passed, just said "you had better take the L Plates off before you drive home" as he handed me the little slip stating I'd passed. Same place, 2 years later, same examiner for my 2nd car test. Rather longer, including the "reversing round a corner" challenge and traffic lights and pedestrian crossing. The emergency stop I did twice as first time there was a motorbike close behind me that he'd obviously not seen and which would have hit me. He actually congratulated me on my awareness, I relaxed and it was all good from then on, including the reversing round a corner, which is why I failed the first time. Perhaps it helped that the corner he selected was one I'd practiced on a couple of days before! Again a good pass, this time I got the "Congratulations, you have passed"!

I passed my driving test first time in my 1.1 Escort Pop Plus aged 17. Such good fun, having wheels certainly helped with the ladies Bike test was taken some years later, again passing first time, and persued by the examiner on another bike rather than on foot.
