Hello Jules & welcome to the "Magic Morgan World".
Do have a look on www.autoscout24.be; there are several Morgans for sale within your budget range. I agree with Timothy: take your time & check the market. After all hunting is part of the fun. €25K to €35K should be the market price range in Belgium for a 4/4 (which I recommend over a M3W if you intend to cruise around Europe, which you inevitably will want to do). When inspecting second-hand Morgans, be sure to check the car's file: the fatter it is, the better. I do recommend cars built after 1985, as the wooden car frame was treated against rot from then onwards. Of course, that is if you're not smitten by an often tempting 1960's car. Gilles

Thanks for the welcome Gilles, indeed I use autoscout a lot, in conjunction with "Le Parking". Le parking has the advantage of also providing the date when the car sale was published.
For the "built after", I'm even more restrictive: - 4/4 as of Sigma engine +/-2008 - Plus 4 as of Duratec engine +/- 2004-2005 - Roadster as of 2004-2005

Hello Jules, and welcome to the forum.
This time last year, I wrote a very similar post to yours on this form, and since June I'm a very happy Plus4 owner, supplied through Garage Albert, here in Brussels.
If you've not visited, it's worthwhile to have a look around - they're really friendly and have some very nice cars to look at and many options / accessories on show and to buy.
I decided to buy a RHD model, as in a few years, I'll return to U.K. I've found that there're no real difficulties to driving a RHD here in Brussels - just occasionally to operate a barrier in parking garages etc.
Good luck making your choice - I hope you get your Morgan soon..

Hello Jonny,
Indeed I've been to Garage Albert and they are very friendly. I've seen on their website that they have now a rather good looking Plus 4 for 51k EUR. It would be a stretch for me in terms of budget, but it does look very nice!
I'm also looking at some Roadster's, I went to classic remise in Germany today to see their 3.0L Le Mans green one. Also in very nice shape. I certainly love the sound of it...
Many thanks Thierry for your additional info as well! It looks like many Morgan owners start with a normal 4/4 but quickly swap to a Plus 4 or ARP4 (you lucky guy ;-) ) Knowing myself a bit, I'm wondering to which extent I'll not make the step directly to the PLUS4/Roadster.

Jules,
The Plus 4 has unquestionably more grunt than a 4/4. But the top speed f a 4/4 is 185kph already, which you'll never do anyway. At 150kph, you'll have the impression of being aboard a Eurojet fighter plane. The Plus four's top speed is 189kph... Hardly worth the difference you will pay in purchase & road taxes, as well as the petrol, I think. The more that over a few years, while having put money aside for your hobby, you can always upgrade your engine in many ways for not much money.

Yes, I'm sure many owners do this - though possibly not as many as with other brands where 'bigger engine = faster + more status'. When I drove Porsches, I ended up in a Turbo because the extra power suited the car and enhanced the handling rather than detracting. When I started driving Morgans, I went from a larger-engined car to a 4/4 because I loved the delicacy and lightness of the smaller-engined cars. So my advice would be try them all. Also ask whether you will want to tour with lots of luggage, because much as I love the 4/4, it isn't suited to that task so well as a Plus 4 or Roadster.

Gilles Your observation is indeed correct, Gilles. But my goal is certainly not to test the top speed but have car that shows more grunt. If I go the Plus 4 route, I’d probably directly change induction & exhaust to make it to 200bhp. To the tax point, a recent Plus 4 is much cheaper than a Roadster… Yes, I'm sure many owners do this - though possibly not as many as with other brands where 'bigger engine = faster + more status'.

Exactly in that sense, I will go Plus 4 or Roadster. And the luggage/touring is a very good point. It is definitely not a status issue, but more about driving enjoyment.
Welcome to the madhouse Jules.
Thanks Mark!
